Tao Hu is a software engineer with the Centre at ANU. Before joining the Centre, he worked as research scientist for Siemens Ltd. China. During this time, he did research on robotic vision and worked on embedded software development for Siemens Industry Robot controller and exploration of use scenarios of intelligent industry robots under the context of Industry 4.0. He also worked as a video non-linear editing software R&D engineer for China Digital Video Ltd.

In 2008, he obtained a Software Engineer Qualification Certificate approved and authorized by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security of China. Tao Hu received his PhD in information and communication technology from University of Trento, Italy in 2014. While doing his PhD studies, he worked on SmarTrack Project at Fondazione Bruno Kessler, Trento Italy. His research interests include people tracking, visual surveillance and robotic vision.
