Rodrigo Fonseca Santa Cruz Oliveira
- PhD Researcher
- Australian National University
- 2015 - 2019
Rodrigo joined the Centre as a PhD candidate to work on semantic scene understanding, the challenging task of building machines that can interpret images and video as humans do at first glance. This is crucial for robots to interact with people and their environment. Rodrigo’s research project aims to build systems that can efficiently extract semantically meaningful interpretations of the complex visual world.
Rodrigo graduated from University of Pernambuco (UPE), Brazil, with a Bachelor of Computer Engineering degree in 2014. In 2013, he received a Science Without Border Scholarship from CNPQ, Brazil to study as an exchange student in the BSc Computer Science at ANU. He also has experience working in the IT Industry and his research interests are in Computer Vision, Pattern Recognition and Machine Learning.
He submitted his final thesis in 2019 and took up the position of Postdoctoral Research Fellow at CSIRO in Brisbane.
