Ben studied undergraduate courses in Computer Science and Mechatronics Engineering at Monash University before then completing a PhD with the Centre in the area of Computer Systems Engineering. Ben’s research has principally focused on developing and understanding efficient methods for the representation and retrieval of high dimensional big data.

In 2020 Ben joined CSIRO Data61 as a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Spatiotemporal Activity within the Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence Future Science Platform. Ben’s current research interests include self-supervised learning, multi-modal representation learning, human-in-the-loop active learning and non-linear dimension reduction.
