Carlie is a scaled down version of a full-size autonomous car, with a range of cameras and sensors and on-board computer capability.
There is a lot of interest in autonomous vehicles and having a fleet of mini vehicles to complement full-sized autonomous cars has made it easier to do research as they are safer, portable and more economical.
Four of these mobile robotic platforms were created, one for each of the Centre partner universities. They were used for research, engagement and outreach purposes.
